Starting my journey with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

For the past several years, I have been working almost exclusively with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) and all of the tools that go along with it.  While it has been very interesting ever since I started, the industry I work in doesn’t really allow for keeping up with technology.  So as TFS2018 gets closer and closer to release, I am stuck with TFS2015 for at least another year or two.

It is frustrating to watch technology passing you by…

So I decided to start learning about AWS and go for a few certifications.

I have to say, trying to figure out where to start was the most difficult part.  They have thousands of services and various entry points to start learning.  It took me a bit just to get my head wrapped around all of it.  But I finally jumped in here: https://aws.amazon.com/getting-started/use-cases/devops/.

Halfway down the page, there are some “10-Minute Tutorials” with the good ol’ Hello World!  That sparked a real desired to learn more and I started to feel very unorganized in my approach to learning this stuff.  That’s when I decided to pick the targets of getting the AWS certifications.

So here we go, on a journey of learning!

And yes, I’m proud also of the fact that I blogged about it.  🙂
